Roles and Responsibilities

Pursuant to the decision of the President of Energy Regulatory Office, ENION S.A. was designated as the operator of electricity distribution system in the area specified in Electricity Distribution Licence issued for ENION S.A.

In accordance with the provisions of Art. 9c para 3, Energy Law, distribution system operator, following impartial and transparent rules that ensure equal treatment of all system users and with consideration for environmental protection requirements, is responsible for:
  1. effective operation of the grid in the distribution network, ensuring required reliability and quality of electricity supply and in cooperation with transmission system operator in the area of coordinated grid of 110 kV;
  2. operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of distribution network to ensure reliable operation of distribution system;
  3. development of distribution network and, whenever applicable, development of international tie-lines in the area of its operations;
  4. cooperation with other electric power system operators or energy enterprises in order to ensure coherence in electric power systems operations and coordinate the development of those systems, as well as to ensure their reliable and effective operation;
  5. operating the capacity of generating units connected with distribution network, with the exception of generating units with attainable capacity equal to or greater than 50 MW, connected to coordinated grid of 110 kV;
  6. system balancing, except for the balancing of current electricity demand with electricity supplies, and congestion management;
  7. managing electricity flows in distribution network and cooperation with electric power transmission system operator with regard to the management of electricity flows in coordinated grid of 110 kV;
  8. purchase of electricity to compensate for the losses in the distribution network originating during electricity distribution in the network and application of transparent and non-discriminating market procedures with respect to such electricity purchase;
  9. providing network users and operators of other electric power systems connected to the system with information on the conditions of electricity distribution service and network operation, such as necessary in order to gain access to and use distribution network;
    9a.  execution of electricity sale contracts concluded by the users connected to the network, through:
    a.  design and operation of technical and IT infrastructure used to collect, transmit and manage measurement data, ensuring effective cooperation with other operators andenergy enterprises,
    b.  collection, storage, processing and provision, in a way agreed upon by energy market stakeholders, of measurement data regarding electricity consumed by users, to suppliers chosen by the users and to the entities responsible for trade balancing, as well as to transmission system operator,
    c.  preparing and updating standard energy consumption profiles and making those profiles available to users, and compliance with the principles governing the application of profiles in the part of the Code that is subject to approval of the President of Energy Regulatory Office, pursuant to Art. 9g para 9,
    d.  providing access to data pertaining to both planned and actual electricity consumption, determined on the basis of standard energy consumption profiles for agreed billing periods,
    e.  preparation and implementation of the procedure pertaining to the switch of supplier and compliance with the procedure in the part of the Code that is subject to approval of the President of Energy Regulatory Office, pursuant to Art. 9g para 9;
  1. cooperation with electric power transmission system operator in respect of the plans referred to in para 2 point 13;
  2. planning the development of distribution network, including projects related to energy efficiency, management of electricity demand or development of generation capacity added to distribution network;
  3. compliance with the terms of cooperation with electric power transmission system operator with respect to the coordinated grid of 110 kV;

defining reference code of configuration for the distribution network in agreement with adjacent operators of distribution systems, and cooperation with transmission system operator with respect to the definition of reference code of configuration for coordinated grid of 110 kV. ENION S.A. owns electricity transmission and distribution licence valid until 31 December 2025.
