Pursuant to the decision made by the President of Energy Regulatory Office on 31 December 2008, ENION GRUPA TAURON S.A. Company was designated as the operator of electricity distribution system for the period between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2025, which is equivalent to the effective term of electricity distribution concession for the Company. ENION Spółka Akcyjna Company was established as a result of a merger of distribution companies operating in southern Poland. ENION is made up of the following energy enterprises: Beskidzka Energetyka, Będziński ZE, ZE Częstochowa, ZE Kraków and ZE Tarnów. At present, those enterprises operate as ENION branches. They continue to supply electricity and service Customers in their respective territories. The merger was carried out pursuant to the provisions of Art. 492 § 1, Commercial Company Code: as a result of the merger, the assets of all Companies (merged ones) were taken over by Zakład Energetyczny Kraków S.A.

ENION has its headquarters in Kraków, and the Branches operate – with a significant level of autonomy – in the cities which used to be the seats of former Companies, namely in the cities of Bielsko-Biała, Będzin, Częstochowa, Kraków and Tarnów. ENION S.A is a part of Tauron Polska Energia holding, which started operations on May 9, 2007. In accordance with the governmental „Electrical Power Sector Program’ („Program dla elektroenergetyki”), the shares of EnergiaPro S.A., ENION S.A., Południowy Koncern Energetyczny S.A. and Elektrownia Stalowa Wola S.A. were brought to EP.
The operations of Tauron Polska Energia cover seventeen percent of country territory. The Company is the second biggest electricity producer in Poland, and the leader in energy sale to corporate as well as individual Customers.
Holding entities employ more than 20 thousand people, and their annual revenue in 2007 is going to reach the level of PLN 9 bln, approximately. Tauron Polska Energia companies have the capital of about PLN 13.5 bln.
Consolidation of generation and distribution entities in the structure of Tauron Polska Energia is conducive to effective management of electricity generation value chain and it will contribute to the reduction in operating costs as well as an increase in revenues and financial results of holding companies.
Company strategy is built on the premise that company operation will focus on power engineering sector. Tauron Polska Energia implements the program of generation capacity restoration and distribution network development, and intends to expand its market of corporate and retail Customers thanks to a flexible approach in responding to changing market environment and an offer of comprehensive, competitive services for Customers.
